John Denver was a superstar artist who was a hit by his popular-folk hits and many of them based in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born in Roswell, New Mexico. He fell in love with Colorado and settled down in Aspen. Denver's state anthems inspired numerous people to go to Colorado. G. Brown of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame says the fact that John Denver is unlike any other musician who represents Colorado. Denver was inducted into the Hall of Fame as its the first member in 2011. Denver is today the face of Colorado on the world stage. When I travel, you are likely to meet people from opposite sides of the globe. As an example, you might meet people who is from New Zealand. And when someone asks you if you're originally from Colorado people will respond with "Oh John Denver!" Brown said. Take Me Home Country Roads written by Bill Danoff and Denver after his brief time with folk bands, was Denver's debut Top 10 solo hit. Danoff had written the song with the inspiration of Johnny Cash, but Denver was able to hear the song's early versions and was aware that the song would be a top 10 hit. He recorded it a couple of days after performing on stage in Washington D.C. before an audience that was very enthusiastic.
