John Denver was a superstar artist who was a hit by his popular-folk hits and many of them based in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. was born in Roswell, New Mexico. And when someone asks you if you're originally from Colorado people will respond with "Oh John Denver!" Brown said. Take Me Home Country Roads written by Bill Danoff and Denver after his brief time with folk bands, was Denver's debut Top 10 solo hit. Danoff had written the song with the inspiration of Johnny Cash, but Denver was able to hear the song's early versions and was aware that the song would be a top 10 hit. He recorded it a couple of days after performing on stage in Washington D.C. before an audience that was very enthusiastic.
